No. 22 Texas A&M stuns No. 1 Auburn in historic upset ahead of SEC tournament
The Tigers have had a firm grip on the No. 1 ranking for weeks and hadn't lost in nearly a full month
Texas A&M isn’t done just yet.
The Aggies, after going on a four-game losing skid in the SEC, stunned No. 1 Auburn on Tuesday night in College Station. No. 22 Texas A&M led the entire way en route to the 83-72 win at Reed Arena. It marked the Aggies’ first ever win against a top-ranked opponent. It was also Auburn’s first loss in almost a full month and just the Tigers’ third of the season.
The Aggies looked like they were done in recent weeks. They entered the contest on a four-game losing streak, which included blowout losses to then-No. 21 Mississippi State and then-No. 3 Florida. That sent them plummeting in both the national rankings and the SEC standings ahead of the final week of the regular season.
You wouldn't have known on Tuesday, however. The Aggies took the lead from the jump and never looked back while grabbing the 11-point win. Zhuric Phelps led the way with 19 points off the bench, and Wade Taylor IV added 16 points. Andersson Garcia finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds, too. The Aggies dominated on the glass and out-rebounded Auburn by 16. They had 24 offensive rebounds, too, and 29 second-chance points.
Tahaad Pettiford led the Tigers with 19 points after shooting 6-of-10 from behind the arc. Chad Baker-Mazara added 15 points, and Miles Kelly finished with 12 points. They were the only three players to hit double figures for Auburn. Johni Broome, who is a legitimate contender for Player of the Year with Duke star Cooper Flagg, was held to just eight points and seven rebounds.
While the loss isn't great for Bruce Pearl and the Tigers, they are still in an incredible spot heading into their regular-season finale Saturday. They've already wrapped up the the SEC title, and they are on track to earn a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament almost regardless of what happens the rest of the way. They have 16 Quad 1 wins on the season, too, six more than the next closest teams in the country.
But if they can't bounce back and handle Alabama in a rivalry rematch Saturday afternoon at home, things could get interesting in the SEC tournament at Bridgestone Arena. Suddenly, after weeks and weeks of proving otherwise, Auburn would look legitimately beatable.
But for Texas A&M, the Aggies picked up a huge win when they needed it the most. If there was ever a way to turn their season around in the final week, this was it.

Emma Bunton and Mel B 'reunited in South Korea'
Emma Bunton and Mel B reunited in November to take part in a reality TV show. The 49-year-old pop star and Mel secretly flew to Seoul, South Korea, in late 2024, when they sang alongside K-pop idols for a TV show. A source told The Sun newspaper: "A Spice Girls reunion is a way off. "So having Emma and Mel back on stage singing a Spice Girls song together might be the closest fans get to a comeback, even though it will be with K-pop stars rather than Geri Horner, Melanie C and Victoria Beckham. Meanwhile, Melanie recently revealed that she's ready to "start planning" a Spice Girls reunion. The 51-year-old singer would love to reunite with her bandmates to mark the 30th anniversary of 'Wannabe', the group's 1996 hit single. Melanie told Rebecca Judd On Apple Music 1: "There has to be something befitting of 30 years since ‘Wannabe’. "Once a Spice Girl, always a Spice Girl. We all feel like that, but we now are getting together because we know if we're going to do anything, we have to start planning things to get things right. "We have to start making the plans right now and putting them into action. So fingers crossed."

Kevin Spacey has told Guy Pearce to "grow up" after the actor claimed he was "targeted" by his former co-star. "I've got nothing to hide. But Guy, you need to grow up. You are not a victim." By contrast, Guy recently claimed that he was "targeted" by his former co-star. The actor told the 'Awards Chatter' podcast: "I was sort of scared of Kevin because he’s quite an aggressive man. "He’s extremely charming and brilliant at what he does - really impressive, etc. He holds a room remarkably. But I was young and susceptible, and he targeted me, no question."

She said: "For my daughter to want to get her nose done, it made me so sad. I feel bad that she has to live up to my nose, or whatever, because I don’t want [my daughters] to feel they have to look a certain way ... "There were times I wanted to move the kids out of LA, and I couldn’t because of where I worked. And they had two parents in this business. I feel bad." However, in a confessional, Sami wondered if she would even be considering cosmetic surgery if she wasn't living the celebrity lifestyle in Los Angeles. She said: "I'm really trying to think if we lived in, like, Alabama and I worked a normal job and I wasn't on social media. I probably would still want a nose job."
