Talk about a wild swan chase!

A Florida swan found itself in harm’s way on the morning of Friday, March 7, after it waddled onto a busy highway, according to the Orlando Police Department, who documented the unusual predicament in a Facebook post.

After receiving several calls about the swan, which disrupted traffic on Florida State Road 408, Orlando police officers quickly responded to the scene and attempted to get the bird — and the vehicles on the road — out of danger.

Highway camera footage shared by local Orlando outlet WESH shows police, along with several community service officers, chasing the large, white bird through several traffic lanes and making several unsuccessful attempts to capture it.

Surrounding traffic, meanwhile, remained at a near-standstill, as all eastbound lanes were closed during the chase, WESH reported.

Eventually, the swan was backed up against a median barrier as at least seven people stood nearby, monitoring the situation, before it was swaddled up into a large blanket.

Once the bird was safely secured, authorities transported it to the Eola House, a city-owned property on Orlando’s Lake Eola, police said.

Staff at the property, however, quickly determined that the runaway swan was not one of theirs, Orlando police said, writing, “Although this swan doesn’t appear to call Lake Eola home, we’re happy it’s now out of harm’s way.”

The bird has since been returned to its original habitat, a spokesperson for the City of Orlando told PEOPLE in a statement on Tuesday, March 11. “It’s no longer in the city’s care,” the spokesperson added.

A volunteer who works with swans in the area found its origin, and the city subsequently returned it, Orlando Commissioner Patty Sheehan later told ABC 17.

Explaining how the swan ended up in the middle of traffic, Sheehan told the outlet that “there are some lakes in that area, and there is a swan population where people are keeping them.”

“It’s very easy, for one of these animals to fly onto major highways and things like that,” she explained, pointing out that it’s currently mating season for the birds.

“These animals are put in danger if you don’t clip their wings,” Sheehan told ABC 17. “You have to take care of them and do the proper swan care, or it can be catastrophic to the swan and motorists.”

Along with the swan, everyone else involved in the unique traffic incident also made it home safe — no injuries or crashes were reported due to the disruption, WESH reported.

“Let this serve as another reminder to slow down and stay focused while driving—you never know what you’ll encounter on the road,” the department concluded its Facebook post. “Have a swan-derful weekend, Orlando!”

Halle Berry wants women to throw menopause parties
Halle Berry wants women to throw menopause parties
Halle Berry wants women to celebrate the menopause by throwing a "shiesta" party. The Hollywood actress, 58, has revealed she will officially enter menopause on March 21 - the date which will mark 12 months since her last period - and she is convinced the date needs to be acknowledged like "every other milestone" in life. According to New York Post column PageSix, Halle explained her ideas during an upcoming appearance on 'The Tamsen Show' podcast, saying: "When a woman realizes that she’s in the menopause - you know, 365 days, and you know you’re in it - it is their duty to give that woman a ‘shiesta’ to celebrate her, like we do every other milestone in our life." Halle went on to confess she thought she would be able to "skip" menopause because she has spent so many years prioritising healthy living. She added: "There was a feeling of: ‘Hey, I can do pretty much anything I want to do if I eat right and exercise, and prioritize my health and well-being'. "I thought whatever menopause is - I don’t know much about it - but I’m sure I’m going to skip it, because I’m too healthy! I’m on top of everything." Halle launched her own wellness platform Respin in 2020, but she recently repurposed it to focus on menopause and women’s health issues. The actress has also been campaigning for more research into the menopause and more funding for treatments. She recently told Women's Health magazine: "As women, we've been told that's it's just what happens when you get older - you just have to white-knuckle it, grin and bear it. Well, no, that's just not good enough." Halle recently revealed she was sent into a spin after a doctor misdiagnosed her perimenopause symptoms as herpes and she then spent 72 hours with her partner Van Hunt playing the "blame game" trying to work out how she had contracted the sexually transmitted infection (STI). During an appearance on 'The Drew Barrymore Show', Halle explained: "I tried to go to the bathroom and I couldn’t go. It was so painful when I tried to let a little bit out. I couldn’t go. It took me almost 10 minutes just to empty my bladder because it was so painful. "Substances were down there that I had never seen before. And I thought, ‘What is this?’” After seeing a doctor, she was diagnosed with a "really bad case of herpes", and Halle added: "We spend the next 72 hours doing the blame game, trying to figure out who gave it to me, who gave it to him. And then a couple of hours after that, my doctor called me and said, ‘You do not have herpes'." Halle went on to do some research and discovered her symptoms were linked to perimenopause - which hits prior to menopause.

People Are Blaming Cheap Shampoo For Causing Male Pattern Baldness
It’s a running joke (and arguably a pretty tired one, at this point) that men don’t know how to take care of themselves. Across the internet, you’ll find loads of videos of young women trying to teach their boyfriends the basics of skin care. Commonly, the men have never heard of moisturizer; some don’t even know to wash their faces. Personal care brands famously sell those 3-in-1 (or 4, or 5…) combo products that combine shampoo, conditioner and body wash — presumably because when you’re a man, you don’t have time to use three different products to serve three discrete purposes, I guess. Never mind that shampoo and conditioner aren’t even meant to go on the same parts of your hair.

After Losing 80% of My Stomach to Cancer, I’m Urging Others to Take Warning Signs Seriously
By the time she was 44, Teresa Tiano was already intimately familiar with cancer. Not only was she treated for stage 0 bladder cancer eight years earlier, but she had also lost both parents to cancer. In July 2011, she became concerned she would follow in her father's footsteps and develop colon cancer. Although she was younger than the recommended age to begin colon cancer screening, she asked her healthcare providers to book her both an endoscopy and colonoscopy.
